Our values
Principles on how we make decisions, execute together, and treat each other
What do new employees typically find surprising about TRM after they start?
How does TRM handle and implement feedback from employees?
We believe that we are only harnessing our full potential when there is consistent, multidirectional, constructive feedback occurring between employees. We operationalize this a few ways:
First, we seek company level feedback through a few mechanisms- biannual engagement surveys, onboarding surveys, and pulse surveys, and have a tight feedback loop back to our employees on how we are actioning against such, with monthly progress updates.
Second, we drive feedback between colleagues with our TRM brand of continuous feedback. We put our money where our mouth is and train on this quarterly, dedicate time to up-skilling on it at every company offsite, and gate promotions and management entry until we are confident in their feedback skills.
Third, we give employees an overall performance status update every 6 weeks (!) so that employees always have clarity on where they stand, and there is never a surprise during Performance Reviews.
How are successes and milestones celebrated within the company?
We believe in celebrating the achievements of our colleagues dynamically, with the recognition mirroring the size & tone of the event, and how the recipient appreciates being recognized. Not to sound like a fortune cookie, but we know its not about the destination, but the journey, and we are intentional about celebrating these milestones along the way. We don’t want to share all our secret sauce, but we do this on over half a dozen mediums, and recognize wins at the individual, team, and org level.
One thing to note though that reflects principles within our culture: outside of anniversaries, we do not celebrate time-based events or ‘activity’, we only recognize and celebrate impact.
How our values inform our success
Our company values, known as Leadership Principles, consist of three core tenets: Master Craftsperson, Inspiring Colleague, and Impact-Oriented Trailblazer. These principles guide our decision-making and behavior, with our commercial success emerging as a natural consequence. Here are some key areas where our Leadership Principles play a crucial role, serving as the foundation for our overall success:
Working remote first
At TRM Labs, being a remote-first company is fundamental to our identity and operations. We are intentional about building a culture that thrives across time zones and continents, where communication is clear, documentation is thorough, and relationships are meaningful.
This remote-first model enables us to derive the unique value of a globally distributed team while staying true to our mission and values, ensuring impact, alignment, and a culture of continuous improvement.
What would life be like if I joined TRM?
TRM is proud to be a place where exceptionally talented and driven individuals come together to turn our deeply important mission into a reality. We set a high bar for the quality of work and speed of delivery—higher than most other startups.
