Engineering with Impact:
Data Platform at TRM
Meet Andrew Fisher
Andrew Fisher is a Senior Software Engineer on TRM’s data engineering team. Andrew helps build out the platform that makes it possible to marry off-chain and on-chain data to APIs that are consumed by users.
What led you to TRM?
I’ve been involved in data my entire career, both for the private and public sectors. I started out at Deloitte’s Tech Consulting practice, building case management apps for state government clients. Then I joined Syapse, a company that fuses clinical and molecular patient data. Later, I worked on data visualization tooling at Facet Data, then at Snap.
What projects are you most excited about?
One of the reasons I chose TRM is that the mission and impact really spoke to me. Who wouldn’t want to help build an app that can help return funds to hack victims? It’s very empowering. I’m also drawn to the technical challenges and scale with which we operate.
The projects I’m most excited about are building tools and solutions that allow internal teams to efficiently move data from our data warehouse to our serving technologies with the least amount of friction.

I’m also excited about plans to introduce data lakehouse technologies and open table formats, like Iceberg, to our stack, which may open up new use cases and reduce cost. It's a lot of fun to play with these technologies and see how they can transform our data platform.
Tell us a bit about your experience at TRM.
The culture at TRM involves a lot of autonomy and no micromanaging. You have the flexibility to prioritize things that you feel are important. As an engineer at a series B company, you also get involved in all the nitty gritty and become an expert in many areas - to really grow those tech skills as well as soft skills. You gain a lot of breadth, really quickly! Then there’s something called “TRM Speed”.
TRM speed? Tell us more!
At first I thought TRM Speed meant getting everything done and shipped ASAP.
But in fact it means ensuring we are working on the right thing and delivering value along the way. It’s not about killing yourself to get something shipped. It’s about coming up with a plan to run each mile in the marathon. In order to collaborate well, you have to bring people along on the journey.
