March 2025 Product Highlights: Bridging On-chain Insights and Field Investigations

This month, TRM introduced updates that strengthen blockchain intelligence and make it easier to connect on-chain data to real-world investigations. Highlights include Seed Analysis in TRM Forensics, expanded glass box attribution for wallet clusters, AI-generated smart contract descriptions, and enhanced portfolio balance visibility — just a few of the enhancements rolled out in March.

Seed Analysis

TRM Forensics includes Seed Analysis, designed to help law enforcement and defense agencies derive investigative leads from recovered seed phrases. TRM’s Seed Analysis is the only solution on the market that automatically scans up to billions of addresses across 20 supported blockchains—including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and TRON—to identify any linked on-chain activity.

Key benefits for law enforcement and national security professionals include:

  • Secure offline analysis: Convert seed phrases into public keys in a secure environment, ensuring compliance with strict law enforcement security guidelines
  • Comprehensive scanning: Automatically match against billions of known addresses, surfacing potential investigative leads from previously dormant or unexamined inputs.
  • Audit logging: All actions are logged, offering traceability for evidentiary review and operational oversight.
  • Extensive coverage: Already compatible with 20 blockchains—with more on the way

Glass box attribution for wallet clusters

Attribution is foundational to every blockchain investigation—but so is understanding the confidence behind each link. TRM was the first to introduce glass box attribution and is the only blockchain intelligence platform that shows you the attribution source and confidence score for every attribution in the UI, enabling parallel reconstruction of investigations for use as evidence in court.

Now, we’re extending that same transparency to wallet cluster entities.

Users can view source descriptions and confidence scores directly within wallet clusters—enabling faster, more informed assessments. Each attribution includes a plain-language explanation of the supporting source and a confidence rating, helping teams quickly distinguish between high-confidence insights and leads that may warrant further review.

We’ve also introduced visibility into the clustering logic itself. Attribution tags on both clusters and individual addresses now display the heuristic used to group them, making it easier to understand how entities are constructed and why certain addresses are associated.

Together, these updates deepen investigative context, strengthen the defensibility of findings, and reinforce TRM’s commitment to transparency, auditability, and user control.

AI smart contract descriptions

Smart contracts are central to many types of illicit activity on-chain, but deciphering their structure and behavior can be time-consuming and technically complex. Introducing smart contract descriptions powered by AI. Rapidly interpret smart contract addresses and their key functions.

Using on-chain data — including the contract’s Application Binary Interface (ABI) — TRM automatically generates human-readable summaries that detail the contract’s purpose, functions, inputs, and outputs, allowing users to triage smart contracts in seconds, not hours.

Each contract is accompanied by a dedicated function summary table, giving users a structured view of smart contract descriptions—without needing to dive into raw bytecode or use external tools. Importantly, these AI-generated insights rely exclusively on public, on-chain data. No private customer data is ever used in the analysis, ensuring both compliance and investigative integrity.

For teams requiring additional control, smart contract descriptions can be toggled on or off via TRM’s user management system, giving administrators the flexibility to tailor its availability to their operational needs.

Prioritize high-value targets for deeper investigation

Quickly identify where the money is—and where it’s moving. TRM provides visual indicators of portfolio value for entities and wallet clusters, building on our enhancement for addresses. This visual distinction gives users immediate insight into asset concentration across connected wallets and an at-a-glance view of asset holdings across the broader network of associated wallets.

By showing balances directly within entity and cluster views, you can:

  • Quickly identify high-value addresses within entities
  • Focus on addresses that are most active
  • Understand asset composition within addresses

When following a complex transaction trail, quick insights into portfolio value and activity help you cut through the noise and focus your investigation.
